Galway's strike duo of Anto Flood and Karl Sheppard took their combined Premier Division tally to nine as the visitors left the Carlisle Grounds with all three points. Their second away success of the campaign lifts Sean Connor's men up to places to sixth while the struggling Seagulls remain bottom of the table after their fifth straight home defeat. With Barry Ryan suspended, United were forced to field left-back Rhys Meynell between the sticks. Derek O'Brien failed a fitness test before kick-off. His place went to Gary Curran which meant the visitors only had four subs. But Curran certainly made his mark as the former Sligo man sprayed the ball out left to Anto Flood on nine minutes.
Wanderers then proceeded to gift the Tribesmen their second on 19 minutes. From David O'Neill's short corner to David Tyrrell, the ball was cleared to the halfway line. With time to take it down, James Kavanagh's intended pass across the centre circle to Colm Tresson was intercepted by Flood. He raced through and set up the breaking Sheppard who side-footed low past the advancing Kane for his fifth league effort of the season. It could have been even worse for Bray had the covering Dane Massey not headed off-the-line from Curran's stroked shot from 20-yards after Kane had failed to claim a cross. Stand-in keeper Meynell wasn't tested until the 36th minute when he parried out David Webster's long range free-kick. Seven minutes after the interval, it took a fine tip-over save by Kane to thwart Cian McBrien off a 25-yard dead-ball. Bray only began to threaten in the closing stages. David O'Neill was played in along the right flank in the 75th minute. He slipped past James Creaney, rolled the ball past Meynell but Seamus Conneely cleared off the line. Wanderers night was summed up in the 89th minute. Debut sub Adam O'Connor's volley from the edge of the box beat Meynell but hit the post, coming back off the make shift custodian and hacked clear by Jamie McKenzie. The striker jinked inside full-back Shane O'Connor to hit a 20-yard shot that took a slight deflection and dipped beyond Brian Kane into the far top corner of the net.
