Sean Connor Position - Manager DOB - 19/6/1967 Place of Birth - Belfast, Northern Ireland. Joined United - January 2010 Playing Career - Previous clubs - Distillery, Port Vale, Macclesfield Town, Ards, Cliftonville. Managing Career - Previous clubs - Sligo Rovers, Bohemians, Dundalk. Honours - Won the 1st Division with Sligo Rovers in 2005.
Following a spell as Birmingham City press officer where he enjoyed working with Steve Bruce, Connor coached in America with Cincinnati River Hawks, Boston Bulldogs and Lafayette Swamp Cats. During his time in Louisiana he coached Joseph Lapra, who won an Irish cap under Steve Staunton. With extensive scouting experience at Stoke and Lincoln Connor was appointed manager of Sligo Rovers in 2004. Sligo won the First Division title in 2005 and the following season finished 5th in the Premier division and reached the FAI Cup semi-final. Bohemians came knocking and in 2007 the team finished 3rd in the league, were semi-finalists in the FAI Cup and Runners-up in the League Cup. He spent a year out of the game due to a high court dispute over his dismissal from Bohs. In 2009 Sean took over at Oriel Park. He was appointed Galway United manager in January 2010. |
