St Patrick's Athletic 5-2 Galway United

Monday 2nd May 2011

St. Pats launched the fist attack of the game with a shot from North, which is wide and is called offside. Brian Cash whipped in a good near post low ball which Shane Keogh scores from on nine minutes, his debut goal for the club. On 14 minutes Greg Fleming makes a smart save from Kavanagh who had chased down a long ball.

In the Pat's box Paul Crowley handles Alan Murphy's strike and a penalty is awarded which Murphy himself converts with a powerfull shot that sends Rogers the wrong way.
Another long ball over the top of the back four allows Kavanagh to score, 1-2. A free kick from outside the penalty box allows Paul Crowley to head into the Galway net, 2-2.

Resumption of the second half, pressure from Pats forcing saves from Greg Fleming, a long throw to McMillan and he heads the goal that gives Pats the lead 3-2.

After 60 Mins Shaun Kelly is booked for what looks to be a very soft tackle, after the free a flicked on header is saved by Fleming and Doyle puts in the rebound 4-2. Four minutes later McMillan heads the ball back across the goal for North to finish 5-2. A second yellow and a red for Shaun Kelly sees him removed from the game, and despite the scoreline Shaun has been a credit to the team and helped the younger players all through.
After two mins added on time the game finishes 5-2 in a game in which Galway started so well, but has to be said it was a good attacking display by St Pats.
